Today I'm happy to announce the La Porte County Board of Commissioners passed our county's first Data Center Ordinance. When I made the motion to approve it, I pointed out that this is a good first step in the right direction. It's important to understand that the BOC only had three options this morning- 1- to approve it 2- to deny it 3- return to the Plan Commission for additional consideration Had we exercised the third option, the Plan Commission would have had to review it and have an additional hearing, meaning that it would likely be 6-8 weeks at the earliest the BOC would have the opportunity to vote on it again. The risk with that would mean any company could file between now and then and wouldn't have been subject to any of the restrictions we put in place today. I wasn't willing to take that risk and have a company get in under the wire. I asked for, and Commissioner Holifield indicated the Data Center Committee will, be taking this up again soon and the Plan Commission will hopefully develop another Data Center Ordinance with additional protections after hearing from public. From what I understand, we are only the second County in the state to adopt a Data center ordinance. Also, thank you to Commissioner Holifield and the PC Committee for their hard work on this ordinance. I awoke in an open field not quite knowing where I was I lay there looking up at the cloudy sky watching the slow movement a dance of wispy white after a few moments I sat up slowly surprisingly felt no ache or pain in fact I felt nothing and I was in no hurry to take my first steps finally I stood up to survey the area it was endless just field no trees structures roads nothing I turned slowly in a circle and came face to face with a young woman with a pleasant yet official demeanor who are you I asked she smiled and said who are you I was about to speak but all I could say was I don't know she smiled again and said that's good I looked at her and said what do you mean she said you remember nothing I thought and said no nothing she said that's good I replied why do you say that her face grew a little more serious when she said would you prefer it to be bad no I said then it's good she answered where am I I asked where would you like to be I don't know I said and felt like sobbing good she said I think now we can start again start what start you what does that mean together we can start you again start anew am I dead I asked do you feel dead she said no I answered that's good are you ready for what to start again do I have a choice oh yes I can help you or I can leave then what then this field is yours am I in prison that's up to you I looked around at the vastness of the field and finally realized that I new where I was nowhere I looked at her and realized that I was smiling why are you smiling she asked because I know where I am and I think that I am ready that's good she said yes it is I replied @OurPoetryX #OurPoetryX #firststeps #openfield #cloudysky
