First Sunday of Advent. Snow is falling in Quebec. Anna woke with more energy than we've seen in weeks. Strong enough to stand, cooperate, and take her first shower in over 6 weeks. My sister in the shower with her. Me holding the shower phone, ready. We wash her daily by hand, but today she was willing and able for this. Yesterday she received Holy Communion from our Bishop. Today - first day of Advent - this. --- We don't know what comes next. Another week? Month? Year? Only God knows. But Advent teaches us to prepare our souls, watch and pray, and receive the sacraments. The snow. The shower. The strength after Holy Communion. This is grace. Each day is given for her soul's preparation - whether one more or a thousand more. And every single one is worth fighting for.
