The Floating Field installation is looking fantastic! Featuring flowers and prayers by members of the local community @FSTenTrinity @MarshMcLennan @TaizeInLondon
This is a photograph of HMS Floatingfield on passage back to Devonport after being torpedoed by the U Boat UB40 in Sept 1918. It was being pushed by the airship which also helped keep the carrier afloat.
The airships were stationed at strategic locations for this purpose.
Photo of the Day: As so many of you like Balloon On-board Ocean Barge Ships here's another photo.
Flt Lt Montgomery "Golfy" Haaye about to test the first ever steam catapult Zeppelin launch from HMS Floatingfield.
Fact of the Day: Back in 1403 (before planes were invented) HMS Floatingfield was the first Balloon On-board Ocean Barge Ship and could carry one and a half Zeppelin fighter balloons up to 4000kms.
