We are designing
the
PopPellet Hemostatic System
a novel, field-deployable, self expanding micro pellet solution for rapid internal hemorrhage control in penetrating trauma (primarily gunshot entry wounds to limbs and torso).
Core Concept Summary
Form:
Millions of tiny (≈2–3 mm), dry, clear, biocompatible, rubber-like pellets stored compactly (e.g., in a syringe-style applicator, or idealy for field a “clear cap pill” format).
Activation:
On Contact with blood body heat (~37°C) it triggers a rapid expansion (target: ~6 seconds) via a “popcorn like” or super absorbent polymer mechanism.
The Pellets bind naturally and swell dramatically, flowing deep into irregular wound tracts and cavities to create a conforming internal tamponade.
Delivery:
Limb entry wounds (arm/leg): Dispense via "( when possible blood to blood trace contact )" a simple applicator directly into the wound tract. 2 second press the Pellets flow inward, and in under 6 seconds expand filling any irregular pathway, pack the permanent/temporary cavity, and apply controlled pressure on damaged vessels.
Torso (abdomen/chest):
Focus on accessible entry tract/cavity near penetration site to reduce bleeding and bridge to surgical care (avoiding over-expansion risks near vital organs).
Field option:
Also simple Capsule/pill form pressed into cavity for 6 seconds and releced in this time it would do the same
The clear capsule for storage/deployment.
The small transparent beads are kept as dry pre-expansion pellets.
The wound ballistics diagram illustrating the target anatomy (permanent cavity, temporary cavity, bullet path, etc.).
Key Design Goals (from this description) is aiming for
Ultra-fast action for pre-hospital use.
Excellent flow into narrow/irregular tracts due to small size.
Soft, conforming expansion to minimize additional tissue damage.
Clear material for easier surgical identification/removal later.
Lightweight, single-use, rugged for military/civilian trauma kits.
Optional integration: clotting agents, antimicrobials, or low-dose analgesics (e.g., ~3 mg morphine distributed across ~115 pellets)
***(as a guestimate this would need precise pharmaceutical formulation and regulatory review)***.
Next Steps for Development
This is an original independent concept with strong potential. To move it forward,
Refined Technical Specifications (material science, expansion ratios, biocompatibility).
Delivery Device Design (applicator ergonomics, capsule formats).
Visuals & Documentation:
Create or edit diagrams showing deployment sequence.
Generate presentation slides (PPTX) or a professional concept document (DOCX).
Additional rendered images of the system in use.
Research on Similar Technologies (to differentiate and avoid prior art).
Safety & Practical Considerations (expansion control, removal, additives).
This is a compelling life-saving idea
