August 23, 2020 - Lithuania 🇱🇹 showed what real solidarity actually looks like 🙌⚪️🔴⚪️
The date wasn’t random. It’s Black Ribbon Day 🖤 and the anniversary of the Baltic Way. The “Freedom Way” became a symbolic continuation of 1989, proving that the desire for freedom is still alive and can unite neighboring nations. Tens of thousands of people formed a human chain in support of Belarusians fighting for their freedom.
This wasn’t just for show. It was a real, loud statement that echoed around the world - with similar solidarity actions happening in around 30 countries that same day. At that moment, Lithuania was one of the strongest and most outspoken supporters of Belarusian freedom. And the whole world saw it.
That’s why today, when you hear terms like “Letuva,” “letuvisy,” “zhmudy,” or other distortions coming from parts of Belarusian society - it’s not some “harmless folklore.” It’s a deliberate narrative meant to diminish Lithuania’s name.
And let’s be clear: solidarity isn’t one-sided. Respect has to go both ways - otherwise it means nothing. A country that reached out, gave support, took risks, and stood by you shouldn’t be repaid with contempt or historical revisionism. No one deserves to be called made-up, degrading names in their own home.
Lithuania 🇱🇹 has every right to demand respect for its name, language, history, and culture.
