There is always a lots of neck rubing in the gannet courtship. #SuperSeabirdsSunday @SteelySeabirder @serudd1960 @FrostlynneLynn

Gannets appeared about 30 million years ago. The word 'gannet' is derived from old English ganot, meaning 'strong or masculine'. With a 1.8 meter wingspan and a top speed of 65kph, they're formidable predators. #birdwatching

What noise does a gannet make and I'll make it. The domesticated or wild ones?

I was lucky enough to go to a gannet breeding spot in NZ in 2017. Such a lovely (if aromatic!) place. πŸ˜†

THank you so much. This is a Northern Gannet Britains largest sea bird. One of the things I love about these birds is, everytime they come back to their partner, they do a head dance to re affirm their connection.
