The discussion explored how climate-related crises are increasingly affecting not only communities, but also frontline health workers and nurses across Malaysia and the region. It highlighted the need to strengthen resilience through improved working conditions, psychosocial support, emergency preparedness, and occupational health measures.
They also emphasised that nurses and frontline health workers should be recognised not only as responders, but as key voices in shaping solutions. Building resilient health systems requires stronger coordination, gender-responsive policies, investment in primary healthcare, and meaningful inclusion of nurses in decision-making.

Prevention cannot stay static while the epidemic evolves.
At ICASA 2025โs HIV Prevention Technologies session, experts called for gender-responsive, context-driven approaches to HIV prevention across Africa.
From tackling overlooked conditions like female genital schistosomiasis and its link to increased HIV risk, to understanding what drives HIV vaccine acceptability, and expanding options like CAB-LA to improve adherence, one message was clear: prevention must adapt to peopleโs realities.
Choice matters. Accuracy matters. Gender-responsive care matters.
