Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a plane trying to fix his shoe when passengers mistake his fumbling for a "shoe bomb" threat. He’s tackled and thrown into the lavatory, where he accidentally triggers an ejection seat and plummets from the plane without a parachute.
Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) dives after him, leading to an over-the-top mid-air fight against a massive henchman, which Smart eventually wins using an unexpected "tactical kiss" as a distraction.
