The
@newvisionwire has taken note of our massive mobilisation on
#WorldAIDSDay2025 and published a story highlighting some of the insights they gathered from the communities of Kosovo and Lungujja.
As a quick recap: on Monday, we held an extensive march around Lungujja and offered a range of sexual and reproductive health services, including HIV testing, health talks, cervical cancer screening, and more.
During this engagement, we interacted with hundreds of young people in Kosovo, and it’s from these conversations that the story “Ghetto Youth Turn To Honey in Misguided HIV Prevention” emerged.
Some young people believe honey can reduce the potency of the virus, while others think that using a condom once “covers” the rounds that follow. These misconceptions are alarming, but they are also powerful reminders of why campaigns like
#iKnowKati2025 must continue to show up, listen, and provide accurate information.
These stories fuel our commitment to conduct even more outreaches, conversations, and learning spaces to ensure young people have the right knowledge about HIV prevention like proper condom use, availability of PrEP and PEP, and the importance of regular testing for the virus.
As we work toward
#GettingToZero HIV contractions by 2030, it remains our shared responsibility to spread correct information, challenge myths, and empower communities with the facts that save lives.
