In the construction industry, there are several traditions and superstitions. Understandably so, especially when you’re on-site, doing work that is always dangerous yet gratifying, as you see a building’s progress firsthand. Today marked one of those traditions - the Community Commons Topping Off Ceremony. An American flag and evergreen are fixed to the final structural beam — the one our community had the opportunity to sign before the holiday break — and placed in its ultimate position. The ceremony and symbolic additions represent good luck for future occupants, the safe completion of the project, honor the on-site workers, and show visible pride in a job well done. Thank you to the community members who braved the cold weather (and Winter Break) to attend the ceremony in person.
