To our future #GradInTheLab followers, When selecting a #GradSchool, also ask if you'll be eligible for health insurance as part of your package. You might be on your parents' until you turn 25 (or not) but ask what happens after. #DiversityAdmissionsHour #GradRecruitWeek

Academic types: It's #GradRecruitWeek. Where do you steer undergrads for advice on grad school? I send them to @JacquelynGill's perennially good advice: contemplativemammoth.com/201… And to my colleague @geophysichick's presentation youtube.com/watch?v=yOpsdto6… What else should I use?

There are many advices from @youinthelab and #GradrecruitWeek event. @folsom_carly, I'm in the same situation, maybe worst because english is not my first language and is not easy to find fellowships as Colombian particulary during a pandemic 😢

Q: “I do have a “disability” related to mental health..Should I write about it in [my diversity statement]? I’m really scared...but it’s an achievement of mine to be where I am despite my situation and I’m proud. Really struggling on this...” #GradRecruitWeek

2) I've not heard of this affecting graduate spots for PhD seekers that are paid on grants although professors who have been awarded a grant have a lot more paperwork to do before they can offer a RA (research assistant) position. #GradRecruitWeek

Here's what I've learned: 1) In some departments, there are fewer grad students being let in on TA (teaching assistant) appointments because there are fewer classes that are being taught in-person. #GradRecruitWeek
