George Starke
@TheHeadHog – A Champion, A Leader, A Fighter
As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, I reflect on the incredible legacy of my husband, George Starke. A champion, a leader, and a man who knows what it takes to fight against the odds.
From his years dominating the field with Washington as a Super Bowl champion to mentoring future generations, George has always been more than just an athlete. He was a key force in the legendary Hogs offensive line, starting in 146 games and helping lead the team to three Super Bowl appearances, securing victory in Super Bowl XVII.
Career Highlights:
• Super Bowl XVII Champion
• Three Super Bowl Appearances
• 156 NFL Games Played, 146 Started
• Recognized Among the 70 Greatest Redskins
• "Head Hog" of the Legendary Offensive Line
Beyond the game, George’s impact has been just as powerful.
After football, he dedicated himself to shaping lives, becoming an entrepreneur, a broadcaster, and an educator. He founded the Excel Institute, which helped over 500 students gain skills and education to build their futures. His commitment to excellence and perseverance has always been his defining trait, on and off the field.
But today, his biggest fight is not on the field.
As an ambassador for Mainz Biomed
$MYNZ, he stands with me in the fight for early cancer detection and prevention. Cancer does not care how strong you are, but strength and early action can make all the difference.
Why Early Detection Matters More Than Ever?!
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.
• In 2024, an estimated 152,810 people in the United States will be diagnosed with CRC, with approximately 53,010 deaths expected.
• One in five new CRC cases now occurs in patients under the age of 55, nearly double the rate from 1995.
• CRC cases in individuals under 35 have nearly doubled, increasing from 21,874 in 1990 to 41,545 in 2019.
✅ Mainz Biomed is advancing early detection.
• Pre-cancer detection rate: 88% (compared to leading competitors at 42% and 20%).
• 9 laboratories in Europe covering 80 million patients and expanding.
• Ongoing clinical trials: 2,000 patients enrolled and advancing to a 15,000-patient stage—progressing ahead of schedule.
• Mainz Biomed is working on more partnerships to accelerate US & EU market expansion, ensuring that its groundbreaking technology reaches more patients faster.
• Partnered with Quest Diagnostics
$DGX and Thermo Fisher
$TMO to accelerate U.S. entry.
• Cost-effective (~60%) testing—more affordable than current options on the market.
• FDA resubmission moving ahead of schedule, potentially fast-tracked, aiming to make screenings widely accessible.
🏈 Super Bowl weekend is about more than just football—it is about teamwork, resilience, and making an impact.
This year, we are using this platform to advocate for cancer prevention and push for better screening options for families everywhere.
Champions do not just play the game—they change it.
