While working on the Storage I completely forgot the most important thing in my database. Yes, I forgot Datatypes! Honestly it was such a headache I had to rewire almost entirely what I had written and add support for Datatypes. The most difficult part was updating serialization logic which was working flawlessly earlier, thanks to the way I had implemented it updating the abstract class did the job! That rewrite took me entire 2 days, I haven't slept on Saturday and was working almost like 30 hrs straight, worst part was making Binary and UUID type work I wasted 3 hours straight on this. But the good part is 35 hrs straight because I loved every second of it. EnigmaDB's (yes that's what I am naming it 😁) storage layer right now supports the following types: Int32, Int64, Double, String, Bool, UUID, Binary, Timestamp, Null, Custom The "Custom" datatype will allow users to develop their own custom plugins in C which can directly be integrated into EnigmaDB and allow them to develop their own types! #Cplusplus #Databases #OpenSource #DevTools #SystemsProgramming #TypeSystem #EnigmaDB #BuiltWithCplusplus #BinaryData #Serialization #BackendDev #HackWeekend #TechTwitter #buildinpublic @buildinpublic
