CBI Launches 'ABHAY' – AI-Powered Notice Verification System Empowering Citizens to Verify CBI Notices and Prevent ‘Digital Arrest’ Frauds Date: 15.05.2026 The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched ABHAY, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based helpbot. It is the country's first real-time notice verification system designed to authenticate CBI notices and protect citizens from the growing threat of cyber fraud and ‘Digital Arrest’ scams. Cyber-enabled fraud has emerged as a major challenge to India's criminal justice system. The rapid advancement of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deepfakes has made it increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens to distinguish between genuine information and fabricated content. Among these, the ‘Digital Arrest’ scam has become one of the most dangerous forms of cyber fraud. In this scheme, fraudsters create intense fear in the minds of victims by sending fake notices that appear to have been issued by legitimate law enforcement agencies. These notices falsely accuse recipients of involvement in criminal activities. Once victims are deceived into believing the claims, the fraudsters initiate a sham legal process and keep them under surveillance for days under the guise of a so-called “digital arrest.” Importantly, there is no legal concept of a ‘Digital Arrest’ under Indian law. Recognizing the difficulties faced by citizens in verifying the authenticity of official notices, the CBI has developed ABHAY. This initiative places the power of notice verification directly in the hands of the public. Citizens can access the ABHAY service at any time through the CBI’s official website: cbi.gov.in. Verification Process: Any person who receives a notice in the name of the CBI should first visit the official CBI website. Click on the ABHAY logo available on the homepage. Complete OTP verification using their mobile number. Upload a scanned copy of the notice received. The ABHAY helpbot will then determine and inform the user whether the notice is genuine or potentially fraudulent. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes, particularly those involving so-called “Digital Arrest” tactics. The CBI has once again emphasized that there is no legally recognized procedure called ‘Digital Arrest’. People should neither panic nor comply immediately with such calls or notices. They are also urged to be cautious of fraudulent investment schemes and impersonation calls made in the name of law enforcement agencies or regulatory authorities. Any suspicious activity should be reported promptly to the appropriate authorities or through the cybercrime reporting portal. The CBI has reiterated its firm commitment to taking stringent legal action against individuals and entities that assist cybercriminals by enabling the misuse of banking and telecommunications infrastructure.

In a rare Win for Grok (hate that i'm saying this) I asked it what I should do to get my replies unhidden and It told me to just lay off twitter for a few days to let the algorithm reset, and it worked. AI does best as a glorified helpbot

If Banks start to use AI seriously, they can shed off their 40% employees for improving efficiency and can still generate the same output. Axis Bank is the first mover and has laid off 3000 employees. Banks in this AI world don't need a full army of workers.
