Don’t Let Over-Familiarity Rob You of Your Blessings 🙏🏽👀🔥
We live in a world of social media 🌍📱 everyone seems to have access to everyone. Whether it's through church ⛪, mosque 🕌, school 🎓, work 💼, or mutual friends ,connection is everywhere. But let me tell you the truth…
Over familiarity is a silent destiny killer 😩
It blinds you from recognizing greatness because the person is "too close" to you.
Jesus said it best:
“A prophet is not without honor except in his own hometown” (Matthew 13:57) 📖
And it’s still true today.
We’ve all heard our parents say:
"I went to school with that governor..."
"That senator was my classmate..."
"That business mogul used to be my friend..."
But guess what? They can’t call that person 📞
They don’t have access 🚫
They’re outsiders now ❌
Why? Because they didn't recognize greatness when it was growing 🌱
Or they let over-familiarity breed dishonor 😕
(I will address dishonor on a different post)
Now we the younger generation complain:
"Why didn’t my parents leverage the people they knew?"
"Why didn’t they connect us to opportunity?"
But hold up 🛑
Let’s ask ourselves the same question
That rising tech guy begging for laptop👨🏽💻
That artist looking for a platform and audience🎨
That looking for a platform and audience comedian😂
That musician looking for a stage/event to perform🎶
That diligent apprentice slowly learning to become a captain of industry🧰
That sales girl learning the rudiments of the trade💁🏽♀️
That house boy or house girl you see daily learning from the wealthy owner 👦🏽👧🏾
Do you see their greatness? Or are you too familiar to value them? 🤔
Too many people wait for others to "blow" before they show support 🎈 some even wait till someone dies before showing support.
But by then, access is gone 🚪
Here’s a hard truth:
Many of today’s politicians didn’t meet each other after power 💼
They met before power, They supported each other early, They built networks when no one was watching 👥
President Obasanjo, when he came out of prison, settled everyone who stood by him 💰
President Tinubu, whether you like him or not, empowered his people 🏦 (Yes Tribalism and Nepotism is Bad)
Even President Buhari, flawed as he was, never forgot his loyal circle 🤝
They understood loyalty and timing
What about you? 🤷🏽♂️
Are you supporting anyone rising around you?
Or are you ignoring greatness because it’s still “small”? 🐣
Am is saying you should become a lich?
No I’m not saying you should chase people for selfish gain 🙅🏽♂️
I’m not saying you should force relationships ❌
But we should ask ourselves:
Have I played a role in someone else's success story? 📖
Have I honored the people God placed near me? 🙇🏽♀️
The Bible says:
“Do you see a man diligent in his work? He will stand before kings, not mere men” (Proverbs 22:29) 👑
A single endorsement 🙏🏽
A simple recommendation 📩
A good word 💬
Can change your life, or your children’s children's lives forever 👶🏽👨🏾🦱👵🏽
🔥 One of the fastest ways to rise is to help someone else rise - A great and wise man
Even if they forget you, God won't 🚀
#WeRiseByLiftingOthers ✊🏽
And if you’re the only successful person in your family or village, one day, bitterness and resentment may come knocking 😢 (You are saved but you are not safe)
So let's be wise 🧠
Discern greatness early 👓
Support those around you 🙌🏽
Celebrate the seeds before they become trees 🌳
Don’t let over-familiarity rob you, your family, or your future of divine connections and generational blessings 👨🏽👩🏽👧🏽👦🏽💎🌍
