#HighfieldsGeography Some great work produced by BD and LH explaining how houses in Burntwood and Timbuktu differ. We couldn’t believe some houses in Timbuktu were made of mud but learned that the landscape and weather both play a part for the reasons why.

#HighfieldsGeography We’ve been comparing Burntwood to Timbuktu in Africa. Today we looked at the weather, wildlife, food (including national dishes) and landscape. We learnt why Timbuktu has a hotter climate and also the importance of camels being able to close their nostrils!

#HighfieldsGeography We learnt what a continent was and then used atlases to locate and name all 7. We also labelled the 5 oceans. We then discussed why it said Pacific Ocean on the left and right side of the world map and how there once used to be a supercontinent! 🗺️
