Reposting this because I regularly find myself explaining how LiDAR works (and because this is such a great visual explanation) I am reposting from YouTube so it can be easily found by anyone. This is infrared video that shows the interaction of the @emesent #Hovermap ST-X's 32 rotating lasers with the interior, exterior, the surrounding trees, etc of Homestead 2 at #SkinwalkerRanch. 640,000 points per second are generated from the interactions the lasers have with anything with mass or reflectivity. My Y is on 14.2.1 and it drove flawlessly in a cold foggy morning followed by a snowstorm in Alberta. No, LiDAR doesn't shine in those situations, it's the contrary. As someone who uses a Hovermap scanner for work, I can pretty sure to you that when it's foggy or raining, my day is ruined.
