I think you are comparing apples to oranges aren’t you. The single-factory setups in Norway and Canada are completely different from what Labour is attempting to build in the UK. The foreign plants you mentioned (like Norway's Sleipner) are isolated facilities capturing emissions from a single source.  The UK is attempting to build massive, interconnected regional industrial clusters (HyNet and the East Coast Cluster).  This requires linking entirely different industries - cement, waste-to-energy, power plants - into a giant, shared pipeline network. This level of complex grid integration has never been done anywhere in the world. Haven’t independent energy watchdogs (like the IEEFA) found that the flagship projects in Norway and Canada repeatedly failed to meet their targeted carbon-capture rates due to underperformance and design flaws? The government’s own watchdog warned that because there are “not any examples of CCUS technology operating at a commercial scale in the UK,” the system carries massive, unproven “first-of-a-kind risks. “  In fact, the government quietly admitted that its 2030 capture targets are already unachievable🙄 Gordon Brown? The 2007 Gordon Brown project wasn't “ready to build” - it was a bureaucratic mess.  The National Audit Office said it was plagued by “insufficient planning” and unviable commercial risks.  Labour blew it back then because the tech wasn't viable.  Now Ed Miliband is repeating history - gambling £9bn on unproven engineering just for green headlines.

I’ve been using a sim I purchased for my @MTNNG hynet WiFi for over 2 years now, 3 days ago I decided to insert the sim into a phone to know if it’s working cus I stopped using the WiFi. I received 2 missed calls from 2 different numbers in those 3 day. I was shocked.

I’m going to play devils advocate here a bit, he’s not wrong, there’s no “unlimited mobile data” in most places in the world, only a select few countries have such, emphasis on mobile data, as in direct connect from your phone to towers…what is often seen is unlimited fibre or WiFi plans, which is kinda what we have here in Nigeria. That said, the problem still remains; 1) the so called unlimited plans that we have here even the ones deducated hynet plans which r for WiFi devices not mobile phones, r still not truly unlimited, there’s always ridiculous FUP, e.g after a certain usage u get only 2gb of data a day, that’s just bs 2) our fixed/capped plans deplete significantly faster on Mtn than any other provider, WHY?! 3) the fibrex he mentioned is only available in very very very few estates and areas in even fewer states across the country, u can’t be proposing a solution that only a tiny percentage of people can access

Hynet is already being dug - anyone driving around Cheshire/north wales can see the scars. The proposal is to pump co2 under the Liverpool bay. £17.7 billion in capital and £29.1 billion in operating expenditure to 2050. Initial infrastructure cost of £0.9 billion.

Hi @grok What strategic or financial factors such as high capital costs, uncertain returns on carbon credits, regulatory delays, or a shift toward other low-carbon priorities like hydrogen or renewables are driving BP to divest its stakes in these flagship UK carbon capture projects in Northern England, and which specific projects (e.g., HyNet or Net Zero Teesside) are most affected? How might this partial exit by BP influence the overall progress and funding of the UK’s carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) sector, which is a cornerstone of the government’s net-zero-by-2050 strategy, and what role will continued public subsidies or new private investors need to play to keep the projects on track? What are the potential ripple effects on investor confidence in large-scale CCS infrastructure globally, UK energy transition timelines, regional jobs in Northern England, and Britain’s ability to meet its legally binding emissions targets if major oil majors begin scaling back involvement in similar flagship initiatives?

Yes - I suspect they think that it being labelled a project of critical national priority might overcome the issues identified. It seems to have worked for HyNet.

THE £1 MILLION-PER-JOB GAMBLE. The Senedd is betting big on the North Wales Carbon Capture project, but the math is a disaster for Welsh taxpayers. 1/4: The Millionaire Subsidy The project claims to create 800 "skilled jobs." With a staggering £800M annual subsidy, we are effectively paying £1,000,000 per job, every single year. 2/4: Gone in 40 Hours The project aims to bury 4.5M tons of Co2 annually. On a global scale, that entire year of effort is replaced by world emissions in just 39.5 hours. We spend millions for an impact that disappears in less than two days. 🌍⏱️ 3/4: Priorities Check For the cost of just ONE of these subsidised jobs (£1M), the Senedd could fund: 🚑 20 New Paramedics 👩‍🏫 25 Primary School Teachers 🏠 Massive grants for local home insulation Instead, the cash goes to a "risky" industrial experiment. 4/4: The Bottom Line North Wales deserves real investment, not symbolic "white elephants" that carve up our landscape for zero global gain. It's time to ask the Senedd: Who is this project actually for? #NorthWales #Senedd #NetZero #WalesNews #Taxpayers #HyNet

BlackRock zgodził się na zakup 49,99% udziałów w spółce należącej do , zajmującej się wychwytywaniem i składowaniem CO₂ (CCUS). Eni CCUS Holding rozwija m.in. projekty HyNet i Bacton w oraz L10 w .
