An important piece out today on the costs for treating #hypertension in Australia, with relevance to the #HypertensionTaskforce @HypertensionAus and @OzCvA and @Mark_Butler_MP
Our new analysis out today in @MJA reveals Australian patients are paying over 40% of the annual $1.2B bill to treat high blood pressure. Pharmacy costs are 51%.
We need better policy for a fairer split of costs so care isn't compromised.

We have an official roadmap to improve #BloodPressure control! It notes "an important reason for the low BP control rates is missing a diagnosis of secondary hypertension (eg, #PrimaryAldosteronism). Working on it! Proud to be part of the #Hypertensiontaskforce @Hudson_Research
