Strengthening Pakistan–Bangladesh Academic Ties Through Research Collaboration
A major step toward regional academic cooperation has been taken as two leading Bangladeshi universities, the University of Chittagong and the University of Rajshahi, signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.
The agreements aim to foster collaborative educational, teaching, research, and cultural initiatives between institutions in Pakistan and Bangladesh, creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange, scientific advancement, and academic partnerships.
The MoUs were signed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, and representatives of the respective partner universities during a high-level academic engagement visit to Karachi.
The visiting delegation included vice chancellors, deans, heads of departments, directors, faculty members, and academic leaders from several renowned Bangladeshi institutions, including the University of Dhaka, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Jahangirnagar University, North South University, BRAC University, Asian University of Bangladesh, and Southeast University.
The participation of representatives from Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC), including Mr. Jehanzeb Khan, further underscored the importance of strengthening educational diplomacy and research cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
Such collaborations play a vital role in promoting innovation, scientific excellence, and stronger people-to-people connections across South Asia.

Ethiopia and Pakistan Establish Joint Rectors’ Forum to Advance Academic Cooperation
Under the facilitation of OIC's Standing Committee on Science and technology (OIC- COMSTECH), the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have formed a Joint Rectors’ Forum comprising ten premier institutions, five from each nation, to boost academic, scientific, and technological collaboration.
The initiative was officially announced during the OIC-COMSTECH-Ethiopia-Pakistan Joint Forum which was held here in Islamabad through a video conference.
During the fruitful session, H.E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, the Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH highlighted key areas of strategic cooperation, which was further catalyzed by a powerful opening address from H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan.
The Ambassador underscored Ethiopia’s massive transformation into a knowledge-based economy driven by a 70:30 STEM education national policy, as well as an expanding healthcare research ecosystem.
The newly formed forum strategically links Pakistan's renowned university consortium with Ethiopia's growing public health and technology sectors.
Participating Ethiopian institutions include the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAIT), Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), University of Gondar, and Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital under Addis Ababa University. They are joined by premier Pakistani counterparts including the University of Lahore (UoL), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), and the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB).
Moving forward, the alliance will focus on collaborative research and development in advanced technologies and medical sciences. The initiative is designed to facilitate academic mobility through student exchange programs and the movement of faculty members, alongside creating comprehensive institutional twinning mechanisms between matched universities. To translate this diplomatic agreement into an actionable operational matrix, both sides have agreed to form a joint technical team tasked with guiding future operations.
Marking an immediate and tangible outcome of the joint forum, COMSATS University announced the provision of 25 scholarships for Ethiopian students. This commitment paves the way for human resource development and laid a strong foundation for fostering an intellectual partnership between the two nations.
OIC-COMSTECH has also expressed its willingness to host representatives of leading Ethiopian universities in Islamabad, with a view to further strengthening academic, research, and institutional collaboration between the two sides.

سندھ میں مکمل فرانزک لیب کی عدم موجودگی پر سپریم کورٹ کے مانیٹری جج کے سوالات اداروں کی حقیقت بے نقاب کرتے ہیں۔ اعلانات سے ادارے نہیں بنتے ویژن، نگرانی، فنڈنگ اور عملدرآمد چاہیے۔
پنجاب نے 2009 میں شہباز شریف کے دور میں PFSA قائم کر کے ماڈل پیش کیا: کرائم سین، ڈی این اے، بالسٹکس سب کور، تفتیش اور انصاف بہتر ہوا۔
سندھ میں SFDL (ICCBS، کراچی یونیورسٹی) ڈی این اے اور سیرولوجی میں فعال ہے، ISO 17025 سے تصدیق شدہ، 8,800 کیسز رپورٹ کیے، سزا کی شرح 4% سے 16% بڑھی۔ مگر جامع فرانزک لیب (تمام شعبوں والی) اب تک مکمل آپریشنل نہیں تعمیر میں تاخیر، کرپشن الزامات اور عملدرآمد کی کمی۔
یہ گورننس کا مسئلہ ہے: سنجیدگی ہو تو پنجاب جیسا ماڈل ممکن۔ سندھ کو بھی ایسا انفراسٹرکچر چاہیے تاکہ کرائم کنٹرول اور انصاف تیز ہو۔ ورنہ کاغذی شیر ہی رہیں گے۔

کراچی یونیورسٹی کے انسٹی ٹیوٹ انٹرنیشنل سینٹر فار کیمیکل اینڈ بیالوجیکل سائنسز(آئی سی سی بی ایس) کو جامعہ کراچی سے علیحدہ کرنے کا معاملہ فوری طور پر روک دیا گیا ہے۔ جنگ نیوز کی رپورٹ کے مطابق اس سلسلے میں سندھ اعلیٰ تعلیمی کمیشن کے ذیلی ادارے چارٹر انسپیکشن اینڈ ایویلیوایشن کمیٹی کا 12 دسمبر کو ہونے والا خصوصی اجلاس فوری طور پر ملتوی کر دیا گیا ہے، رپورٹ کے مطابق چارٹر انسپیکشن اینڈ ایویلیوایشن کمیٹی کے چیئرمین ڈاکٹر سروش لودھی نے جمعہ کو ہونے والے اجلاس کو ملتوی کرنے کی تصدیق کی اور بتایا کہ اجلاس میں سب سے اہم چیز آئی سی سی بی ایس کا مسودہ تھا، تاہم وزیر اعلیٰ ہاؤس سے اجلاس ملتوی کرنے کی ہدایت کی گئی ہے۔
