HIGHLIGHTS | MU-JHU at the 2026 IMPAACT Annual Meeting
MU-JHU proudly participated virtually in the 2026 IMPAACT Annual Meeting, contributing to important discussions on maternal, child, and adolescent HIV research.
During the Early Career Investigator Presentations session held on 10th June 2026 and moderated by Prof. Philippa Musoke, two MU-JHU researchers delivered oral presentations highlighting their work:
-Dr. Grace Ahimbisibwe presented “Assessing the Effects of Immune Suppression During Pregnancy on the HIV Reservoir in African Women with HIV Participating in P1078 (IMPAACT NWCS 663).”
- Dr. Denis Kimbugwe presented “Systemic Inflammation in Pregnant and Postpartum Mothers with HIV and Their Children: Relationship with Child Growth.”
Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Kimbugwe shared:
"Through this work, I have been investigating how maternal inflammation during pregnancy and after birth, as well as inflammation in children, may influence the growth and development of HIV-exposed uninfected children. This opportunity has not only mentored and trained me but has also propelled me further along my research journey."
Congratulations to Dr. Ahimbisibwe and Dr. Kimbugwe for representing MU-JHU and contributing to the advancement of HIV research.
