Frustration mounts as the EU's grand digital infrastructure ambitions fall flat. Despite years of promises & billions spent, where's the progress? But years later, we're left asking: What has been achieved? Yet, it's not the cloud solution we were promised but a patchwork of existing services. A secure, efficient, and interoperable cloud. The critique of Mistral AI underscores the apparent gap in policymakers' understanding of the challenges involved in scaling a digital company. Despite numerous proclamations and the investment of billions of euros in the elusive promise of a European Cloud, viable alternatives remain absent. Blaming Mistral only exacerbates the ongoing debacle. With elections on the horizon, it's time for EU commissioners to yield to individuals who grasp the actual requirements of the digital landscape.
