I watched the theatrical release adaptations of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers (over the last two days)—I understand why Christopher Tolkien thought the films eviscerated important elements of the books. But, I still enjoy them immensely, and they have brought millions to the books.
Tolkien’s original cover artwork for the second book shows Orthanc (in the film frequently referred to as Isengard) and Minas Ithil, the tower of the moon, now corrupted and called Minas Morgul.
