Looking back on the 2024 MRC WIMM Work Experience Placements 📽️ Last month we hosted 5 students through @in2scienceUK's In2STEM programme. For 2 weeks, these students got to experience life in a research lab and learn all about the great science happening in our institute. @UCLEarInstitute welcomed In2STEM students last week to get a taste for scientific life. They received various talks and demonstrations as well as getting the chance to be in the lab. We look forward to continuing this partnership and seeing more students next year.

On Day 2, the In2STEM placement student learned about 3D graphics for games, including using linear algebra in 3D transformation, texturing and shading programming. They have used Unity Engine and had a quick introduction to using a spring system to model cloth simulation.

We are pleased to have successfully hosted the In2STEM Summer Placement, welcoming In2STEM students to our campus for an immersive experience in computer science. The program focused on UI/UX in computer games, 3D graphics, IoT, web applications, and agent-based simulation.

On Day 1, the In2STEM placement students learned about the fundamental principles of UI and UX for games and did exercises about these principles. One exercise involved redesigning the UI for the computer game Cuphead @StudioMDHR to be suitable for mobile users.

We are delighted to be the facilitator and co-host of the In2STEM Summer Placement for one week. During this week, the placement students are learning about UI/UX computer games, 3D graphics, IoT and web applications @DrCigdemSengul, and agent-based simulation @diana_sn1.
