Kamala Harris has faced significant criticism for her support of the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF), a nonprofit organization she promoted during the 2020 protests following George Floyd’s death. This fund aimed to assist protesters who could not afford bail, but it also bailed out individuals accused of serious and violent crimes. Her support for MFF has had dire consequences, particularly for the Black community. Darnika Floyd: MFF helped bail out Darnika Floyd, who was later sentenced for second-degree murder after stabbing a man to death. Floyd’s release, facilitated by the fund, resulted in further tragedy and highlighted the dangers of indiscriminate bail support. George Howard: Another individual bailed out by MFF was George Howard, who was charged with second-degree murder after his release. Howard’s case underscores the risk posed to public safety by releasing individuals with violent histories. Christopher Boswell: Perhaps most alarming is the case of Christopher Boswell, a twice-convicted rapist bailed out by MFF who then faced additional charges of kidnapping and sexual assault. Boswell’s release exemplifies the severe consequences of prioritizing bail over community safety. These examples illustrate the broader issue of lawlessness resulting from such policies. Harris’s promotion of the MFF, which has been criticized for prioritizing the release of individuals irrespective of their criminal history, has contributed to increased danger within communities, particularly those already vulnerable. The criticism is that her actions have inadvertently supported a system that puts law-abiding citizens at risk by releasing individuals who go on to commit further crimes. Black communities, which Harris claims to champion, have suffered the most from these misguided policies. Instead of fostering safety and support, these actions have led to greater fear and instability. Her lawless policies have disproportionately hurt the Black community, undermining the very safety and stability these communities need. Harris’s actions show a disregard for the consequences, prioritizing political agendas over the safety of the people. If she isn’t contributing to the mass incarceration of Black men, she is supporting policies that endanger Black communities by freeing dangerous criminals. This dual approach of either over-incarceration or dangerous leniency highlights a disregard for the true needs and safety of the Black community. Black voters and all citizens deserve truth and accountability. The consequences of Harris’s support for the MFF serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of responsible and just policies in maintaining law and order. #incaseyouforgot
