The CDF and Chairman PLU, Gen.
@mkainerugaba
I write with respect to inform you that if the decision to drop Mr.
@FrankGashumba as vice chairman PLU in Buganda was based on his remarks about M23, am sorry to say, but you have been misled Gen.
First of all, that video is 3 years old, while in the equal opportunities committee as
@CouncilforA , an organisation that Mr. Gashumba heads, fighting for the rights of indigenious Banyarwanda.
Mr. Gashumba's intentions on the remarks were patriotic, in the way that he wouldn't wish any hostile forces in Uganda, since we all know what triggered the M23 in Congo. Therefore he was calling for dialogue, inorder for the issues of the indigenious Banyarwanda of being denied IDs and passports to be solved.
I myself was a former victim of Nira and internal affairs for 5 years. I came back from Dubai U.A.E purposely for a renewed passport in late 2019, and applied for it in early 2020. I was then told how i wasn't a Ugandan, and am supposed to apply and buy citizenship in my only country that i know. They didn't stop on that, they also stoplisted my ID from the system without hearing me. I kept on proving them with documents and some relatives, but all in vain! Not until i also joined council for Abavandimwe in the struggle against that total discrimination.
We engaged every office and person that matter in this country, until when we wrote to the visionary president
@KagutaMuseveni who clearly understood our cause, and acted on it by issuing an executive order on citizenship rights of all Ugandans in January 2025.
It was also first rejected to be implemented, until when we wrote to him again, and called us in June last year together with officials of Nira and internal affairs, for dialogue.
Am happy to report that things changed, i my self who had spent 5 years without a valid ID and passport that kept me crippled financially, i was issued a renewed passport, and my ID was activated. And not only me, many other victims whose IDs had been stoplisted, were all activated, those that were confiscated from some were also given back, courtesy of the executive order by the president.
Therefore, with all due respect Gen. , Mr. Gashumba is one of the most patriotic leaders that still had more to add on PLU.
UMUNSI MWIZA GEN.
