Today, I raised important concerns before the Chairman NADRA, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, regarding the succession certificate mechanism and the protection of women’s inheritance rights in Pakistan. The discussion focused on ensuring that married daughters, sisters, widows, and other female heirs are not excluded from succession applications through concealment, coercion, or manipulation. Key concerns included identification of all legal heirs, safeguards against fraudulent omission of women heirs, and protection against forced relinquishment of inheritance rights.
I appreciate the commitment and efforts of Chairman NADRA Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afsar, who has undertaken significant reforms despite social and family pressures that often discourage women from claiming their lawful inheritance. During the discussion, he also emphasized the need for stronger legislative support and institutional cooperation to further strengthen the succession and inheritance framework in Pakistan.
I also highlighted the need for transparent asset verification, expansion of facilitation services in underserved areas, and fee concessions for vulnerable women applicants. Women’s constitutional inheritance rights must be protected through a transparent, accessible, and gender-sensitive system that ensures justice, dignity, and equality for all.
