AI in the classroom raises a real question: are we building better thinkers, or just faster answer-finders? In our latest blog, EduSmart's Senior Director of Content Lisa Deslaurier makes the case that AI's biggest value in science education isn't giving students answers — it's helping them ask better questions. From analyzing messy real-world data to surfacing patterns students can then interrogate and challenge, AI works best when it's a thinking partner, not a shortcut. The students who thrive in an AI-accelerated world won't just know how to use these tools. They'll know how to think with them. Les chenilles! 🐛 Our caterpillar observation centre was a busy spot today! We transferred the last 6 caterpillars to their new homes. We wonder how many of the 36 caterpillars will become "des papillons". 🦋 @StVeronicaOCSB @OttCatholicSB #ocsbDL #InquiryBasedLearning

🧠🔬 What should administrators REALLY see in science classrooms? Not just quiet compliance. Not just completed worksheets. Not just students copying notes. They should see students: ✅ asking meaningful questions ✅ explaining their thinking ✅ engaging in scientific discourse ✅ making sense of phenomena ✅ struggling productively ✅ taking ownership of learning When students think deeply, learning happens. Science classrooms should be places where curiosity, reasoning, collaboration, and sensemaking are visible every day. What instructional “look-fors” do YOU value during classroom walkthroughs? 👀 #ScienceEducation #NGSS #STEMEducation #MosesSTEMinc #InstructionalLeadership #ScienceClassroom #PhenomenonBasedLearning #ScientificDiscourse #InquiryBasedLearning #STEMLeadership #StudentCenteredLearning

I’m in the final stages of preparing my forthcoming @RoutledgeEOE book, Bringing Religious Literacy to the Classroom: Global Competence for K–12 Social Studies. As part of the manuscript process, I’m gathering a small number of brief endorsements from colleagues working in religious literacy, social studies education, civic education, global competence, and K–12 curriculum. This book is designed to help educators teach about religion in ways that are academic, inquiry-based, constitutionally sound, culturally responsive, and classroom-ready. If you are interested in learning more or would like to offer a brief endorsement, please comment below or send me a message. I would be happy to share the table of contents and a sample chapter. #ReligiousLiteracy #SocialStudies #GlobalCompetence #CivicEducation #K12Education #InquiryBasedLearning

【Student Spotlight!】 Our Y4C student recently took the stage at EDIX, held at Tokyo Big Sight 👏 As a national Grand Prize winner of the Minecraft Cup, the student was invited to present at the Microsoft booth! They shared their journey through the competition and what they learned along the way with an audience of educators. It’s truly inspiring to see how our students continue to grow and expand their opportunities even after joining us ✨ We’re excited to see what’s next! #MinecraftCup #EDIX2026 #InquiryBasedLearning #FutureEducation

This week, some of our grade 1 students visited the TDSB Forest Valley Outdoor Education Centre. Outdoor and experiential learning play a crucial role in the development of young children. Being outside sparks curiosity, encourages observation, inspires movement, fosters collaboration, and evokes wonder in ways that indoor settings rarely match. As they investigated local habitats and noticed creatures, plants, and patterns, our youngest learners honed inquiry skills in the fresh air and embraced the forest as a living classroom. We celebrate a wonderful day of exploration and applaud the thoughtful, curious, and joyful ways our students engaged with the environment. #OutdoorEducation #ExperientialLearning #EnvironmentalEducation #TDSB #EarlyYearsLearning #InquiryBasedLearning #LearningBeyondTheClassroom #DublinHeights

🎥 Just shared on YouTube 👉 What happens when teachers stop starting with answers and start with questions instead? In this first episode of our two-part STEAM Super Series, twelve educators share how shifting to an inquiry-driven, curiosity-first approach transforms science, math, art, and every subject in between. From inquiry-based science and math as play to creativity as our greatest advantage in the age of AI, these conversations reveal the STEAM education mindset that sparks wonder in every classroom. Sponsored by the Van Andel Institute for Education and their new Educator Studio. In this episode, you'll learn how to: • Use inquiry-based learning to flip the traditional lesson structure and let students explore before they explain — with practical examples from Terra Tarango at the Van Andel Institute for Education • Transform math class by starting with play and questions instead of procedures, helping students discover concepts like the Pythagorean theorem through curiosity — with Dan Finkel of Math for Love • Leverage creativity and the arts as a brain-based bridge to deeper learning across all subjects, using thinking routines to get students into a state of flow — with Susan Riley, founder of the Institute for Arts Integration and STEAM • Build creativity as a skill through journaling, creative constraints, and community-connected projects that become student legacies — with artist and NASA Solar System Ambassador Tim Needles • Understand what's happening in students' brains before they're ready to learn and use the transformational power of the word "yet" to build a growth mindset — with Dr. Lidia Gonzalez • Shape school culture through leadership language that focuses on possibility and problem-solving rather than complaints — with Dr. Sam Nix Show notes and resources: coolcatteacher.com/steammind… Chapters: 00:00:00 Introduction 00:02:16 Terra Tarango: Inquiry-Based Science 00:12:02 Dan Finkel: Math as Play 00:17:13 Mrs. Sharon Howard: High Standards in Kindergarten 00:20:20 Susan Riley: Creativity as Our Greatest Advantage 00:25:58 Tim Needles: Building Creativity as a Skill 00:30:54 Dr. Lidia Gonzalez: Getting the Brain Ready to Learn 00:34:28 Teachers Who Changed History 00:41:02 Dr. Sam Nix: School Culture and Leadership Language 00:46:26 Dr. Lidia Gonzalez: The Power of Yet 00:48:48 Justin Reich: Small Experiments for Big Change 00:50:53 Patti Duncan and Stephanie Zeiger: STEAM in Practice 00:52:52 Takeaways and Closing 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for weekly conversations with the world's best educators! 🎙️ Cool Cat Teacher Talk airs on WDJY FM radio, public access TV, YouTube, and all podcast platforms. #STEAMeducation #InquiryBasedLearning #MathAsPlay #CreativityInEducation #GrowthMindset #ThePowerOfYet #ProductiveStruggle #LifeChangingMoments #TeachingStrategies #EdChat #CoolCatTeacher #VickiDavis #SchoolCulture #ArtsIntegration #STEMinEducation #TeacherPodcast #educationpodcast youtube.com/watch?v=t9tcpOdJ…

Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), in collaboration with the Chughtai Institute of Leadership and Learning (CILL), presents The Phenomenon Lab: Thought-Provoking Practical Labwork for Teachers. Day 1 opened with questions, observation, and the simple act of noticing. Through hands-on experiments, guided inquiry, and mini-lectures, participants explored how measurement, record-keeping, and reflection shape scientific understanding. Sessions on the psychobiology of learning invited educators to reflect on how curiosity forms, how learning happens, and how science can be taught as a process rather than just content. A day grounded in practice, reflection, and the belief that meaningful science education begins with wonder. #ScienceEducation #TeacherTraining #STEMEducation #InquiryBasedLearning #EducationInPakistan
