Former President Uhuru Kenyatta Attends Consecration and Installation of Bishop Peter Kimani Ndung’u
EMBU November 16, 2024: Former President Uhuru Kenyatta today joined the clergy, Catholic faithfuls and leaders at the University of Embu grounds to witness the Episcopal Consecration and Installation of Monsignor Peter Kimani Ndung’u as the Catholic Bishop of Embu Diocese.
Bishop Kimani brings over 20 years of dedicated ministry service to his new role. With 24 years of experience supporting inmates, officers, and their families within the Prisons Service, he has earned respect in the Church and beyond through his commitment and expertise.
Addressing the congregation, Kenyatta applauded the newly chosen Bishop for his outstanding work and wished him success in his new position.
The former President emphasized the need for national unity and peaceful coexistence. Urging Kenyans to embrace mutual respect and reject tribalism, he said, “As a nation, let’s pray for peace, unity, shun negative ethnicity, and love one another.”He also echoed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s earlier sentiments, reinforcing the message of togetherness as essential for Kenya’s progress.
The consecration ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Martin Van Megen, Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya. In his homily, Archbishop Van Megen praised Bishop Kimani for his devout service, likening his work to that of St. Paul. “Like St. Paul, Bishop Kimani has shown dedication in spreading the Gospel and serving those most in need,” the Archbishop said.

The special ceremony brought together people from different backgrounds, showing how the Church brings people together in the community. With music, dances, and prayers, the day was a joyful celebration of belief, strength, and optimism for the future with Bishop Kimani guiding the congregants.
Also present at the Consecration and Installationservice were President William Ruto, Governor Cecile Mbarire, senior government officials among other National and local leaders.
