PHANGELA GROUP TACTICAL TEAM ASSISTS IN MAJOR KIDNAPPING INVESTIGATION Following the report of a kidnapping and financial crime incident in the Western Cape on the 29th of May 2026, the Phangela Group Tactical Team was tasked with assisting in the investigation by gathering intelligence and identifying persons of interest linked to the matter. Through extensive investigative work, surveillance, and intelligence-driven operations, several suspects were identified and traced to various locations within the province. Information obtained during the investigation was shared with law enforcement authorities, who conducted follow-up operations based on the intelligence provided. The coordinated efforts ultimately led to the successful recovery of the victim in Saldanha, who was found unharmed, and the arrest of multiple suspects believed to be connected to the incident. Various items of evidential value were recovered during the operation, contributing significantly to the ongoing investigation. This successful outcome highlights the importance of intelligence-led investigations, strong partnerships with law enforcement, and the dedication of the Phangela Group Tactical Team in supporting the fight against serious and organised crime. NAF ADVANCES INTELLIGENCE-LED OPERATIONS WITH GRADUATION OF NEW INTELLIGENCE PERSONNEL The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has continued to strengthen its intelligence-driven operational capabilities with the graduation of Basic Intelligence Course 34/2026 at the Nigerian Air Force School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT), Makurdi, on Friday, 8 May 2026. Representing the Chief of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba, the Director of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Ukpong, described the graduation as another significant milestone in the sustained effort to produce highly professional intelligence personnel capable of supporting national security objectives. He noted that the evolving security environment requires well-trained and mission-oriented intelligence operatives equipped to effectively support ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations. The course provided specialised training in intelligence operations, operational analysis, security support, and mission-focused capability development aimed at enhancing the participants’ analytical, reporting, and decision-making abilities. The Special Guest of Honour further highlighted the importance of producing actionable intelligence to support operational effectiveness and strategic decision-making, while urging the graduating personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, integrity, teamwork, and continuous self-development in line with emerging technological advancements and contemporary security realities. The graduation reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to strengthening intelligence capacity development and advancing intelligence-led operations as a critical pillar of national security.
