Lots of other stuff happened. I wrote about weird ducks for @audubonsociety, spoke on @scifri about #InverteButtWeek alongside @franzanth, rescued some birds, turtles and snakes, saw some friends but not enough, saw some critters but never enough, got musked by new snakes, etc.

One of the best things to come out of twitter this past year was making #InverteButtWeek with @franzanth, @MaureenBug, @americanbeetles and so many others, and getting to talk about butts on @scifri. What a bright spot in a real butt of a year.

The joy. The giggles. The art. What started as a rumble in the depths of #ScienceTwitter with @MaureenBug @RosemaryMosco @franzanth @americanbeetles, bubbled into absolute joy with SciFri butt correspondent @dpeterschmidt on public radio.

Today I’m thinking of all the things I got from twitter, which should always have been a public commons: genuine friendships, almost every book I’ve read in the past few years, podcast recs, a D&D game, #InverteButtWeek, comics collaborations with amazing scientists! So much more

I made this honeypot ant mug inspired by #invertebuttweek so I could drink coffee out of its engorged butt (honeypot ants have specialized workers who can swell up and function as living larders throwing up food for the other ants)

I'm excited to talk comics, pigeons, and #InverteButtWeek in a keynote tomorrow for the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators conference. Environmental educators made me who I am! paee.net/paee-conference.htm…

I have had to learn a lot more about spiders than I would have expected / hoped as the science and tech writer for @nerdist. Two weeks in the job, two articles where my arachnophobia has been quashed (a bit) by how much cool stuff spiders can do! #InverteButtWeek #SpiderTwitter

SciFri national butt correspondent @dpeterschmidt asked @MaureenBug about her favorite animal butt. It's the sea cucumber! What's your favorite animal butt? #InverteButtWeek sciencefriday.com/segments/i…

As an ode to the anatomical uniqueness of these critters from front to back, science communicators and illustrators on Twitter dubbed March 1 to March 8 #InverteButtWeek. ow.ly/oELP30se6eR
