Fatma was quiet and shy, but determined. She had struggled with reading and writing, but at 10, she began to participate in class, write on the board, and speak about her dream of becoming a dentist. Through Catch-Up classes in Tooz, @IraqVision , with support from #WorldVisionSingapore, helped Fatma and 166 #children strengthen their #literacy, confidence, and sense of belonging at #school. Because when children were supported, they didn’t just learn — they thrived. Seven-year-old Maili needed to walk 400 meters just to reach a toilet in school. "The facilities were far, the water and toilets were dirty, and the walk took time away from their lessons. Some children couldn’t even make it in time,” said Maili's mother Payam, a teacher at the school in #Tooz, #Iraq. Newly constructed toilet blocks and handwashing stations from @IraqVision have created clean, safe, and accessible facilities to all students at the school, including those with disabilities. Years of conflict have left Iraq’s education system and infrastructure deeply strained. In 2025, World Vision Iraq rehabilitated toilets and handwashing facilities in six schools in Tooz. Schoolchildren like Maili are also learning healthy habits through hygiene awareness sessions. On #WorldToiletDay, we emphasise that every child like Maili deserves clean, safe, and accessible sanitation, empowering them to focus on their education. @IraqVision is proud to highlight the voices of children and youth as active peacebuilders in their communities. ✌️ They held a workshop in #Kirkuk with the Children & Youth Group of Iraq, bringing together kids, young people, local authorities, and faith leaders. In this artwork from Shayan Nuradeen, two young people share a vision of peace: a girl riding a bicycle alongside a boy in a wheelchair. From the boy’s basket, various birds of peace take flight, symbolizing diversity and inclusion. The sky bursts with vivid shades, reminding us that peace is a tapestry woven from our differences. #WorldPeaceDay #InternationalDayOfPeace
