Seven-year-old Maili needed to walk 400 meters just to reach a toilet in school. "The facilities were far, the water and toilets were dirty, and the walk took time away from their lessons. Some children couldn’t even make it in time,” said Maili's mother Payam, a teacher at the school in

#Iraq.
Newly constructed toilet blocks and handwashing stations from
@IraqVision have created clean, safe, and accessible facilities to all students at the school, including those with disabilities.
Years of conflict have left Iraq’s education system and infrastructure deeply strained. In 2025, World Vision Iraq rehabilitated toilets and handwashing facilities in six schools in Tooz. Schoolchildren like Maili are also learning healthy habits through hygiene awareness sessions.
On
#WorldToiletDay, we emphasise that every child like Maili deserves clean, safe, and accessible sanitation, empowering them to focus on their education.
