When someone says “I don’t see colour”, it translates to “I don’t see you, and I don’t see the complexities of race and racism”. Representation matters, and racism must be acknowledged and addressed – not ignored.

ALT A blue tile with a mind-map graphic. In the centre is a speech bubble with the text “The dangers of the “I don’t see color” mentality”. Arrows point towards text outlining why said mentality is dangerous: “It allows you to ignore the complexities of racial issues”; “You’re not actively dismantling your own prejudices (we all have them!)”; “It minimizes the struggles of PoC in today’s society”; “It limits your ability to appreciate individualism”; “You can’t fix something you can’t see”.
