Watching Dionne Brand & @blacklikewho in conversation about her work tonight reminded me of when I saw them in conversation about his work 3 yrs ago at the "Black Like..." symposium. Their love and deep respect for each other and each others' work... #JacksonLecture

Listening to Dionne Brand's @OISEUofT #JacksonLecture gives my breath back to me. I mean it literally as much as I mean it as a jewelled saying. Brand's thinking is new air, is invigoration, is the future that loves us & in which we can concern ourselves, can tend to our hearts.

Powerful talk this evening! “We belong to a network of people thinking liberation. Our intellectual and geographical borders are porous and not patrolled in the ways that nation states would have them patrolled” Dionne Brand @OISEUofT @blacklikewho

Dionne gives credence to the energies of other thinkers (Black and Indigenous thinkers) for their ongoing efforts. And just like that, time is about up! #JacksonLecture

Dionne: to have, notice and watch with accuracy and anxiety everything in the world, but to care for yourself, is a Black aesthetic. #JacksonLecture

Dionne: there’s a time that doesn’t care for any of that. As Black people, we’re familiar with getting away from “capitalist time.” Reclaiming being, reclaiming time #JacksonLecture
