#KayLeeRay says she wasn't released as first believed, her contract simply expired and she chose to leave & not renew.
Ray is clearing up what really happened with her WWE departure, as she revealed she wasn’t actually released at all.
While speaking to
#DailyStar, the former WWE talent explained that she did not part ways with the company in the same way as some other WWE talent.
Instead, her contract simply reached its expiration date, which allowed her to return to the ring right away.
“Like, for me, it happens. There seems to be a pattern with this.
My contract was up, and I knew it was coming up, and I had the decision of whether I wanted to stay or not.”
Ray said the situation worked differently from wrestlers who are fired and then have to wait through a 90-day non-compete clause. Since her deal ended naturally, she was free to make her surprise return for
#ProWrestlingEVE in London on June 5 so quickly
“I know some other people got fired and they have the 90-day clause, but because mine was just a contract ending, it means I didn’t have the 90 days, and I was able to come and do this and do it as kind of a surprise.”
Kay Lee Ray also admitted the surprise may not have been perfectly hidden, but she was still happy with how everything played out:
“But I know it wasn’t really a surprise. But yeah, I’m really glad it worked out this way.”
