I’m in my 2nd year at AIR (Accessibility Internet Rally) by @knowbility – the annual accessibility web-building hackathon & competition.
A great chance to connect and team up with accessibility professionals worldwide to build an accessible website for a nonprofit.

ALT Dark purple graphic with grid texture announcing the John Slatin AccessU 2025 event. Top left features the Level Access logo and the Knowbility logo side by side. Top right shows a dotted map of Texas with a bright orange location pin marking Austin. Centered on the graphic is a bold white headline: “John Slatin AccessU 2025.” Above this, a small blue button reads “EVENT.” Below the headline, white text states the event dates and location: “May 12–15, 2025, St. Edward’s University | Austin, TX.” Bottom right corner includes a blue circular accessibility icon with waves around it.
Exciting news! We have been granted 501c3 nonprofit status! Previously, we had nonprofit status through Knowbility. We're thrilled to now have our own nonprofit designation, allowing us greater possibilities for expanding our impact.

I'm considering writing a #Blog post about how #Technology can be more #Accessible and #Inclusive for people with #Disabilities and #ChronicIllness.
One example is how health tracking features on #Wearables like the #AppleWatch could be more customizable. For me, the exercise and stand goals aren’t realistic due to my health limitations.
On bad days, the constant reminders to move feel more frustrating than helpful. While you can turn them off, I still want to track my movement and standing in a way that works for me. Greater customization of activity rings or goals would make health tracking more inclusive for people with varying abilities.
To fellow #Disabled and #ChronicPain warriors: What other areas of tech could be more inclusive? Whether it’s wearables, apps, or software design, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Would you also be okay with me including your name or username and a quote from you in the blog post? I want to amplify your voices.
Although this post is meant to elevate disabled voices, I welcome developers, designers, and usability experts to join the conversation and learn how to create more inclusive tech.
Let’s brainstorm ways to make tech work for *everyone*! 🙌
