Over 5.5 million tonnes of single-use plastics from labs end up as waste annually. It’s time for science to go green! Let’s innovate sustainable solutions and reduce plastic pollution. #LabWaste#Sustainability#PlasticPollution
A big thank you to our #sustainability officer Nicola Rodricks for organising today's #LabWaste events

Polystyrene was reported as the number one lab waste concern at the LMS earlier this year
Which is why at the LMS we collect all polystyrene boxes from @NEBiolabs once a month so they can be sent back & reused ♻️. 15p is donated to @WoodlandTrust for every box 💪

We must do what we can in the lab to correctly dispose of and of course, reduce & recycle our #LabWaste. Thank you @GrundonRecycle for educating us today!
Thank you Becky for joining us to talk us through where our #LabWaste goes.
It’s amazing what @GrundonRecycle can recycle ♻️ and process ! They can do so much when we make sure to separate out lab waste correctly 💪

We are required to do service weight sanitary/storm below grade in the city by code. MG couplings were made illegal some years back. In some special circumstances we are allowed to use Spears Labwaste CPVC underground. My brain is starting to get fried from the lead fumes 😅🤪
Kudos to @MarineInst in Galway, who have reduced their annual #labwaste from 4,000 kg to 130 kg, chemical waste by around 23%, and electricity use by 26%. Inspirational!
