Vous vous souvenez de la fameuse station du REM qui allait arrêter près du bassin Peel, là où on voulait construire le Stade Labatt? Qu'on n'était pas certain allait être ajoutée. Et bien elle verra enfin le jour avec l'ajout de 2 stations dans Griffintown et à Bridge/Bonaventure. Manque juste le stade et le club maintenant.
La phase de planification pour la réalisation de stations au cœur de Montréal, Griffintown–Bernard-Landry et une nouvelle station dans le secteur des rues Bridge et Wellington, dont le nom demeure à déterminer, est lancée.
Ces deux stations permettront d’améliorer considérablement l’accès au transport collectif dans des secteurs en forte transformation, de part et d’autre du canal de Lachine. Déjà prévue dans le plan initial, la station Griffintown–Bernard-Landry desservira le nord du canal de Lachine. Quant à la station Bridge‑Bonaventure, celle‑ci se trouvera dans le secteur du bassin Wellington. Son emplacement exact sera annoncé ultérieurement.
Les deux stations seront construites en simultané, pour réduire les impacts pour les usagers et limiter les coûts. La réalisation du projet est envisagée sur un horizon d’environ quatre ans, incluant les phases de planification et de construction.
