At-risk, LEP, EL are all labels of deficit thinking. English shouldn’t be the only goal. Is it important & necessary? Yes! However, we should cultivate & embrace different languages instead of label & subtract. #languageassets #growthmindset #additivebilingualism #GlobalCitizens

When we say that students have achievement gaps, are we maintaining the monocultural and monolingual educational systems of oppression that marginalized them in the first place? Asking for my younger self who was labeled at-risk from the moment I entered the school building.
