Multicultural hell aside, for ~20 years I’ve been in awe at the death grip (and cognitive dissonance) that people have on cities and suburbs, especially in MUH SERVICE ECONOMY that produces nothing. It’s all what I call a Keynesian Treadmill. What are you trying to accomplish?

Outside of battle Shonen stuff being a weeb is still seen as something weird and bad. Only now you don't have that close community you once had. Who all know they're losers together and could joke with each other about their actual passion for it, not just needing to be seen liking it to fit in. Share favourite waifus and favourite figures without feverishly looking for any reason to get that trending tweet by dunking on the 'losers' around you. Glaring down like starving clout animals at all times from their panopticon guard tower. And weebs can't find their own corner to go sit and enjoy things in peace and have fun anymore because the bullies are in the same shared space now. There should never have been one shared anime space that also shares space with everything else because its allowed anime to seep into (for lack of a better term) 'normie' spaces and 'normie' spaces to seep into anime. When a post about an anime goes big it doesn't stay with weebs who get it, it gets seen by people who despise anime, people who think its weird, people who hate it but pretend not to to fit in with their friends, people who are seemingly for some reason really racist towards japan and they all get their bites in, take their clout sustenance from any passing anime trend. Like those fish that feed on whale carcass at the bottom of the ocean. There is no niche anime forums, just the twitter swamp where fandoms melt into one giant grey sludge where nobody understand each other because they have entirely different interests and views but are crushed into the same stuff together. Where the only thing that matters is getting a hit snarky tweet each week. Because most people are still embarrassed to be seen liking anime, or just don't but try to fit in. Afraid of being lumped in with losers who like romance and magic girl sh*t because if highschoolers aren't hitting each other, its weird. So they have to let everyone know all the time, that they're still above it and only like cool pre approved stuff. You're still the weeb getting beaten up, only now you can't escape to the manga club with the other weebs because the bullies are in the room and have been elected president.
