Today, @JSerravallo brought up an insightful point about the Matthew Effect in the context of reading. The Matthew Effect presumes that proficient readers tend to engage in more reading, thereby improving their skills, while struggling readers read less, negatively impacting their abilities. This proves the critical importance of providing all students with grade-level reading materials. Such access should be considered a fundamental, non-negotiable component of the K-8 educational environment.
