Mission work gives you perspective.
@HeartAEthiopia
A gentleman in his 70s came in overnight—cardiogenic shock, inferior STEMI, advanced heart block. His distal left main was hanging by a thread.
Thanks to exceptional
#EMS and pre-hospital care, an outstanding ER team, and an on-site STEMI coordinator, we were able to move fast.
We got him to the lab and did what we do—even at 1 a.m.—because the tools and support were all there: IVUS, MCS, IV antiplatelets, the input of a surgical team.
But as I was wiring that LM, I kept thinking:
What would I do if this was in
#Ethiopia?
No IVUS.
No IVL.
No mechanical support.
No cath lab team on call.
No surgeon around the corner.
Just hope.
This is the difference that
#access makes. And it’s why
@HeartAEthiopia will keep pushing to bring advanced cardiovascular care to places that need it most.
Let’s never take our tools—or our teams—for granted.
