🚨 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐮𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 "𝐀𝐇𝐕" 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐀𝐓 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 Accompanied by demonstrations outside the courthouse, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court today confirmed the validity of the national vote on the #AHV21 reform and additional financing through a #VAT increase. ⚖️ This case reached the court after the Federal Office for Social Insurance admitted that miscalculations had materially overstated the AHV deficit which formed the basis of the reforms. This prompted challenges to the vote’s validity discussed, by the federal court yesterday. The current ruling now upholds upholds key changes, i.e. the increase in the 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟔𝟒 𝐭𝐨 𝟔𝟓 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟎.𝟒% 𝐕𝐀𝐓 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 introduced this year to address AHV deficits. ⚖️The Court noted that reversing these measures would be impractical, as they are closely interlinked and already implemented. A key argument brought forward by the judges was that, reversing the reforms would be impractical and could only be justified in extreme cases. It came furhter across that 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 are fundamental to direct democracy, ensuring that once decisions are declared valid, they remain reliable. ⚖️This decision underscores the importance of accurate, transparent information in legislative processes.
