Calling on the Capitol was back in action this week in Sacramento! 🏛️🌾 On May 5, Farm Bureau members from Districts 1–11 came together at the Capitol to meet directly with legislators and staff and share the real-world impacts of policies affecting California agriculture. From the fields and ranches to the Capitol halls, members brought firsthand stories, local perspectives and the priorities of their communities directly to decision-makers. Beyond the meetings, the day was filled with connection, collaboration and a shared commitment to advocating for California farmers and ranchers. A special thank you to all the members who took time away from their operations, traveled long distances, and, in some cases, even flew in to make the day possible. Now it’s your turn! 👆 We’re calling on members from Districts 12–21 to join us for the next Calling on the Capitol visit on May 26 and be part of the conversation shaping the future of California agriculture. Act Fast, registration closes in two weeks! 🔗 Learn more and register at cfbf.com/capitol #CAFarmBureau #CallingOnTheCapitol #AdvocacyInAction #CaliforniaAgriculture #FarmBureauAdvocacy #Capitol #LegislativeVisits

Farmers who serve on the California Farm Bureau Board of Directors gathered in Sacramento last week to meet with legislators and regulatory officials to advocate on issues that affect agriculture. Among the issues Farm Bureau board members spoke to lawmakers and their staff about were the recent increase in wolf-livestock conflicts, a proposed tax credit to offset the cost to farmers paying overtime wages, a bill that would require any wine labeled as “American” to be completely made from U.S.-grown grapes, and regulation of nitrate contamination in the state’s water supply. Roger Everett, a Tulare County beekeeper and citrus farmer, described the Capitol visits as an opportunity for farmers to highlight agricultural issues that legislators from urban areas might not be aware of. “The majority of these people don’t engage in agriculture,” Everett said. “It’s on us to provide them with the information of our operations and what affects us, and how we’re going to survive in the world they’re trying to create for us.” Read more in Ag Alert: bit.ly/4t8KYcm 📸: Manola Secaira #News #AgAlert #CAFarmBureau #AdvocacyInAction #CallingOnTheCapitol #Capitol #LegislativeVisits #Legislature #Advocacy #Predators #Overtime
