Excited to see that libraries are captured as part of the public institutions for driving the adoption and consumption of internet for the Broadband Internet Alliance.
Undoubtedly, library work will rely more and more heavily on digital technologies and internet services, combined with library staff and spaces, to reach a broader audience, which will improve service delivery and the value we add to the communities we serve.
A report by @libraryaidafric in 2020 bit.ly/38vAlu2 pointed out 3 strategic directions for libraries to prepare for post-COVID-19 library services delivery: the Role of Library Leadership, Moving Libraries Online , and Emerging Skills and Training for Library Professionals.
More recently, the @IFLA @UNESCO Public Library Manifesto 2022 ifla.org/public-library-mani… further underlines the roles of libraries in providing services to their communities both in-person and remotely through digital technologies, allowing access to information, collections, and programs whenever possible.
@bosuntijani libraries are evolving with the demands of our community, heavily adopting digital technologies to offer library service delivery.
I am happy to engage further on this to explore key practical approaches with libraries in accelerating our collective prosperity through connectivity.

BROADBAND ACCESS FOR ALL
A constant conversation in my time as Minister has been around the quality of internet services, so as I head out to @wef next week, I will be focusing on securing partnerships for 2 key initiatives to bridge the internet quality and access gap in Nigeria.
To expand further on the first step towards this, I am sharing a whitepaper (Link here - b.link/BAFA-1) that outlines our plan to build an alliance which plugs the non-consumption gap so we can guarantee affordable access for all, including rural and underserved parts of Nigeria.
Our work as a ministry to strengthen our digital economy is going to be driven by connectivity, so this is a critical priority for this government which is also reflected in the Infrastructure pillar of our Strategic Blueprint.
There’s a lot of work to be done and it’s is only the beginning as we move towards expanding and improving access to quality internet.
