I didn't think i'd be visiting Alton Towers for another of their Christmas events but in a surprise turn of events I did. I decided to go in with an open mind instead of comparing to the year with the markets/Lightopia. And I did find there was a lot to keep me entertained.

Today we head back to 2021 and the launch of Lightopia. The 2021 display was themed to Seasonal Wonderland, treating guests to four seasons of beautiful light displays around Mutiny Bay, Katanga Canyon, Gloomy Wood, Forbidden Valley and the Haunted Hollow. #ThrowbackThursday

I'm gutted I never made it to Lightopia. It seemed like things were starting to improve, but alas, sadly not.

I’m gutted the Christmas event isn’t bigger anymore with the added light trail. @altontowers were on to a winner with that. They really should have done do a in house trail once Lightopia had stopped…there’s nothing on the offering to make me visit! 🎅🏻
With the theme park open this weekend for Run Alton Towers, it can be seen that preparations for Christmas are well underway ahead of the start of the event in two weeks’ time 🎄

In a surprising turn of events I'll be at the Alton Towers santa sleep over event this year. This will be my second year at Alton during their Christmas event with the last one being the lightopia event and markets.

Thinking back to Lightopia - a great addition to the Alton Towers Christmas lineup but wow it was both cold and busy when I went that one time

The Christmas event starts tomorrow at @altontowers so today we go back to 2021 and the launch of Lightopia. The paid extra attraction only lasted two seasons before the company behind it went bankrupt. #ThrowbackThursday

This #ThrowbackThursday we look back at Lightopia, an illuminated light & lantern trail with a series of breath-taking scenes that transformed the gardens and other parts of the @altontowers theme park in 2021 & 2022 ✨ Did you experience this bright & beautiful winter offering?

Imagination, you say? Then I imagine an entire kingdom populated with the most beautiful babes in the world! A castle decorated in the rarest of gold plus a sunroom! And finally, there are statues and buildings dedicated to my heroic feats! I call it "Orange Lightopia"! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
It's hard to see "Imagination" and not hear it like this.

Remember Lightopia festival? Well, now you can buy these animal lanterns, which have somehow ended up in someone's back garden in Bolton. 🤷‍♀️ buff.ly/4crUmjA

Running as part of the 2021 & 2022 Christmas event, Lightopia took visitors on a festive tour of parts of the park and gardens, following pathways that were illuminated with lanterns and lights and decorations. What was your favorite part of this light trail? #ThrowbackThursday

Hillsboro’s drive-thru light display Lightopia was a pandemic project. Now it’s a tradition: bit.ly/3GI38eB #ThisIsPortland
