Most of us like to think our values are our own. But often, they were passed down to us from family, school, culture and long before we knew we had a choice. I was raised to work hard, be kind,do the right thing, and be honest. Those values shaped how I live and work, and I’m thankful for them. But over time, I realised not all of them still fit. Some turned into quiet pressures. Help others, even when you’re exhausted. Keep the peace, even when you need to speak. Be grateful, even when something feels wrong. And that’s when I started asking: Do I still believe this? Or have I just never thought to question it? Now, my values feel more lived-in.
