🚛 Is your pallet truck secure in transit? Unsecured units = unsafe load & DVSA non-compliance risk. Rubber wheel chocks & tyres don’t secure them. Risks of OTC referral Use pallet truck locking systems. buff.ly/lnyD6ZN #HGV #LoadSecurity #Logistics #FleetManagement #EBS

All the gear but no idea, Driver decided that he didn't want to strap the load, but had all the necessary equipment. Curtainsided vehicles/trailers are not intended to restrain the load; they are for protecting the load from the weather. Prohibited until fixed #loadsecurity

A question I got asked a few weeks ago is, ‘How do I secure a load of kegs ?’ It’s a good question, especially if you haven’t handled a load like this before. Our loads can be a mix of cans, bottles and kegs. As you can see, the kegs are on pallets to help the customer get them off, as some sites don’t have the forklift attachment to get them off. Our trailers are tailored for this kind of work, with them being XL rated (load-bearing curtains) and also having internal curtains as a secondary securing method. We also have something called a ‘kite’ (not one that you can fly), which secures the load at the rear to help prevent any potential rearward shift. I use a ratchet strap to secure the kegs to the trailer bed, especially those on pallets, as they can slightly move in transit. A keg weighs about 65kg (full) which means a stack weighs roughly 1,755kg. It’s better to be safe than sorry. I always say about load security, if you are not sure, then ask, and if you are asking yourself if you’ve done enough, then maybe you haven’t. Don’t ever feel pressured into taking a load that you are not happy about. Remember, it’s your driving licence! #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Deliveringwinners #GregoryDistribution #GregoryGroup #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #ThatchersCider #LoadSecurity #CPC #DriverCPC #NewDriver

Let’s talk #LoadSecurity. Whether you’re driving a #CMV or another vehicle, your cargo must always be secured. Here you see a 3-foot-long steel pipe unsecured on a flat deck trailer. Thanks to the #MTOOfficer for ensuring that a serious highway incident was prevented.

I’ve heard about these air bags but never seen them used on a load before. Dunnage air bags provide a cushion to protect your load from shift, shock, and vibration. Various sizes of dunnage air bags are available for filling those spaces between loads to secure them and reduce damage in transit. I’m now London 🇬🇧 bound for tomorrow morning 🚚💨 #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Deliveringwinners #GregoryDistribution #GregoryGroup #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #TruckerJenko #LoadSecurity

⚠️ DVSA Guidance ⚠️ A few people have mentioned about two straps is a bit overkill or too many on IBCs, but the law is crystal clear on securing them. I totally understand everyone has their own thoughts and opinions. The below is guidance from the DVSA via Gov.uk. You must secure intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) with either: •2 lashing straps that pass over the skeleton frame. •Another lashing method such as a bungee tarpaulin system that distributes the securing force across the top of the IBC. This is because the skeleton frame of an IBC does not usually have a central upright. A single ratchet strap over the IBC can deform the frame and cause the load securing system to fail. You can use one ratchet strap over the central support if a central upright is fitted. You can secure empty IBCs with one strap if this does not damage the frame. Inspect the IBCs before loading to make sure they’re in good condition. Check that there are no leaks, particularly around the fittings for filling and discharging. An example of an intermediate bulk container (IBC) (pictured above) secured by 2 straps over the strongest point of the frame, rather than over the middle where the frame is likely to bend. #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #LoadSecurity #RatchetStrap #CPC #InitialCPC #Training #NewDriver #Knowledge

An interesting load out of Dagenham earlier this morning. A mix of weight at 1000kg and 1250kg per pallet, so it was time to get the ratchet straps out 🔒 #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Deliveringwinners #GregoryDistribution #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #LoadSecurity #RatchetStrap #CPC #InitialCPC #Training #NewDriver #Knowledge

A few of you have asked how I secured the load of glass bottles 🍾 and this is a question I asked before I collected the load. I had a rough idea, but wanted to be 💯 sure. They load you with two stacks on either side to start with, then you cross-strap with the internal straps through the top of the pallets every second pallet to the trailer bed, and then you can follow the sequence all the way to the end. At the rear of the load, you use an internal strap through the top and bottom pallets to create a cross, which pulls the load forward towards the bulk head.  Just for added peace of mind, I used a ratchet strap around the base of the top pallet just to pull it back so the bottom pallet wasn’t taking all the weight 🏋🏻‍♂️ #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Deliveringwinners #GregoryDistribution #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #LoadSecurity #RatchetStrap #CPC #InitialCPC #Training #NewDriver #Knowledge

Finishing off yesterday in Farrington Gurney with a delivery and collection of empty IBCs ready to go back to be reused ♻️ It’s certainly been a busy couple of days, strapping down loads. I think I need to invest in a ratchet strap winder to speed up the process of putting them away. Enjoy your weekend everyone 😊  #HGV #Distribution #Haulage #Deliveringwinners #GregoryDistribution #Truck #TruckDriver #TruckLife #InstaTruck #LorryLife #Lorry #LorryDriver #LoadSecurity #RatchetStrap #CPC #InitialCPC #Training #NewDriver #Knowledge
