There’s was plenty of action out at Toowoomba Hay Farm last week. Gerard, Annie and the team have been busy with earthworks, trenching, pipe laying and stormwater planning around the hay sheds. It might look like dirt, drains and machinery, but it all plays an important role in hay quality. Good shed access and drainage help keep hay dry, reduce weather exposure and make loading safer and more efficient. For Feed Central and LocalAg, this is exactly why storage and handling matter. Quality hay is not just about what happens in the paddock. It is also about how it is protected, presented and managed once it is in the shed. A bit of groundwork now helps protect better hay for the season ahead.

"I would say there'd be 90% of people who have had a bad hay experience, on both the buyer and seller side. So if we can make a pleasant hay experience - if we can ensure that every load of hay, drives down that driveway, and the buyers are happy with it - the whole industry wins." TIM FORD, Managing Director, LocalAg and Feed Central. Hear Tim's thoughts on this year and what's in the pipeline for 2026 in the latest Hay Matters episode. In the latest episode of Hay Matters from Feed Central and LocalAg, our host Jon Paul Driver catches up with Director Tim Ford to discuss the current market and LocalAg’s first quarter. As southern sheds sit nearly empty, Queensland hay has begun heading south in a reversal of traditional seasonal movement. With biosecurity concerns under control in most areas and demand climbing, the coming weeks could see more sheds open if rain arrives. Meanwhile, the LocalAg platform is handling high volumes well, and buyer demand has led to the introduction of LocalAg Plus, re-introducing delivered pricing and logistics for those who want a hands-off experience.
