I understand your point, but a better solution is a Kwikset Intelligent Lock. With this lockset, you need the original key plus their "reset" tool Functionally, you change the cylinders to match your new key. For real. I placed these on all exterior doors of all my properties

A quick internet search shows that the entire lockset costs between $600 and $700 each. But, in this case, the lock cylinder is all that needs replacement. Asa Abloy lock cylinders are about $100 each. Now, they would have to be repinned, but that doesn't take that much time. So, the whole job should be a LOT less than $70,000 even if they were planning to change the entire lockset. I'm with others here, pull the lock cylinders and melt out most of the superglue with acetone, open the locks and then repin them. The problem is, you would need new cylinders for all the external doors immediately so you could secure them while that kind of work is done.

That actually seems cheap. You have to drill out the existing cylinders without damaging the locksets, then take off a portion of the lockset or panic device to reinsert the new cylinder that you also have to buy. Probably spend about 2 hours per door in labor and then the cylinder cost, which depending on their system, could be anywhere from $75 to $150 per cylinder.
